I wo n’t emotionally recover from this " The Last of Us " episode for a farsighted time .

There are obviously MASSIVE freebooter forward forThe Last of UsSeason 2andThe Last of Us Part IIvideo biz !

.First, the episode opens with Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) walking down the hallway at the hospital, which is a moment from the game as well, but happens later on. InThe Last of Us Part II, gamers play as Abby as she runs down the hallway toward the operating room. Also, in the game we know Abby has bad dreams, and the show actually shows us what it is.

.When looking out on Jackson, and noticing it’s much bigger than they realized, Mel (Ariela Barer) mentions she thought they’d have generators like they “use at the F.O.B.,” which is a location the WLF use inThe Last of Us Part IIgame.

.The moment when Jesse (Young Mazino) wakes up Ellie (Bella Ramsey) for patrol is how the present-day storyline starts in the game. Her convo with Jesse at the door is a shot-for-shot recreation, too. Also, in the game at this point, you don’t see the dance scene, so this is also when you first learn about Dina (Isabela Merced).

.Also, on the back of Ellie’s door, there appears to be a drawing of a tree that looks similar to one that is in Ellie’s sketch book from the video game.

.While instructing the people of Jackson what to do in case of an emergency, Tommy (Gabriel Luna) mentions putting the safety on their guns because Earl shot himself last week. In the first game, Earl is the name of a minor character who works at the hydroelectric dam when Ellie and Joel (Pedro Pascal) first arrive in Jackson.

.Maria (Rutina Wesley) making Ellie listen to Seth’s apology is also something that happens in the game. However, this time we already know what exactly happened, whereas in gameplay we haven’t experienced the dance yet.

.InThe Last of Us Part II, Dina and Ellie actually go on patrol together, while Tommy goes out with Joel. So, a lot of the patrol moments in the show differ from the game. For instance, Dina and Ellie have a sweet moment in Eugene’s hidden grow room in the game, which is replaced by Jesse and Ellie waiting out the storm in there.

.While hiding out in Eugene’s grow room, Ellie finds his Firefly dog tag, which is something you also find while playing as Ellie in the game.

.After Abby slides down the mountain, she encounters a bunch of frozen infected before the horde emerges from the snow. In the game, Abby also finds a bunch of frozen infected while out on patrol.

.Abby being trapped under the collapsed fence as the infected horde descends upon her, with Joel ultimately shooting the one attacking her and saving her life, is also a shot-for-shot recreation fromThe Last of Us Part II.

.After saving Abby, Joel asks Abby if she can run, which is the same thing he asks his daughter, Sarah, in the very first episode after she’s injured while they try to flee.

.While the massive horde’s attack on Jackson is brand-new in the TV show, Tommy does use a flamethrower to defeat the bloater that busts through the walls, which is an item players can use in the games.

.The town of Jackson having dogs that are trained to hunt and kill infected is a new addition for the show, but it mirrors the WLF using dogs in the game to hunt people, too.

.Another big departure from the game is Dina being in the lodge with Joel, instead of Tommy, which means Dina being drugged by Mel is all brand-new for the TV show.

.When it comes to Joel’s death, a lot of the moments are exact recreations from his shocking death in the game, like Abby shooting his knee, but there are also several additions as well. One big thing is that Abby reveals to Joel who she is and that he killed her dad, which is something that doesn’t happen in the game.

.The moment when Ellie stumbles upon Abby and her crew killing Joel is almost exactly like how it is in the game, with the dialogue and shots even matching up.

.And finally, the song “Through the Valley,” which plays at the very end of the episode after Ellie crawls to Joel and she, Jesse, and Dina drag his body back to Jackson — which is all new for the show — issung by Ashley Johnson. Ashley notably did the voice and motion capture performance for Ellie in the games, and she portrayed Ellie’s mom, Anna, in the Season 1 finale.

Alright, that’s all for now. Come back again next week for even more details from the next episode.
