Yes , we ’re still talking about this .

We’re on week two of “Donald Trump as Pope” discourse.

Let’s quickly recap.

Last week, Trump told reporters his number one choice for pope was, duh, himself: “I’d like to be Pope. That would be my number one choice.”

On Saturday,he postedthis AI generated picture of himself as pope.

People weren’t happy.

Notably, the Catholic Bishops of New York Stateresponded to it: “Do not mock us.”

Meanwhile, Team Trump posted another AI video of Trump as pope.

Annnnd that brings us up to Cardinal Timothy Dolan. Cardinal Dolan is one of the leading American Catholic cardinals. He’s in Rome right now to vote on the new pope.

He was asked byGood News Roomabout what he thought about it:

Responding to general questions before Mass at his titulary church building this morning in Rome , Cardinal Dolan talk about President Trump‘s billet on social media dressed as a pope.@thegnewsroompic.twitter.com/sF1zshVTP3

“He asked me about the president appearing as the pope. I hope he had nothing to do with that,” he said.

When asked if he was offended by it, he said, “Well, it wasn’t good. Gli italiani dicono: ‘brutta figura.'”

That last Italian part means, “The Italian people say: ‘brutta figura.”

For those wondering, “brutta figura” translates literally to “ugly figure” and is used to describe someone making a fool of themselves.

Now, hopefully this is the last we hear of this. I’ve got a conclave to focus on!!
