Seth Rogenreportedly made a scathing joke aboutDonald Trumpat a recent awards show — although it sounds like we’re probably never going to see the footage for ourselves.
According to new reports fromVarietyandthe Hollywood Reporter, while presenting the Special Breakthrough Prize in Physics at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony earlier this month, Seth went off-script and called out tech titans for their support of Donald Trump.
He was presenting alongsideEdward Norton, who began the segment by praising the big-name folks in the crowd, including Breakthrough Prize cofounders Yuri Milner,Mark Zuckerberg, and Sergey Brin, who underwrote the awards. According to reports, Seth jumped in and quipped: “And it’s amazing that others [who have been] in this room underwrote electing a man who, in the last week, single-handedly destroyed all of American science.”
The line — presumably a jab towardElon Musk and others’close proximity to the Trump administration — apparently made Edward visibly uncomfortable. “It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320 million and RFK Jr., very fast,” Seth added, as his co-presenter joked about the “light applause” the joke received from the audience — which was filled with big names from the tech and science world.
Well, something tells me we may not be seeing Seth back at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony anytime soon — but you’ve got to love the confidence. Good for you, Seth.
