" At least this seems like there ’s an ending goal . "

Donald Trump has had a long relationship with tariffs. During his first term as president,he imposed tariffs primarily on China’s goods. Now, during his second term, Trump announced a worldwide tariff plan on April 2nd (otherwise known as “Liberation Day”), which caused the market to have its biggest crash since the beginning of COVID-19 five years earlier.

After days of market and trump advisor’s meltdowns, the tariffs officially went into effect early Wednesday, April 9, with Trump deciding to pause the plan for three months later that afternoon — except for China, totaling 145%.

Naturally, this caused a frenzy among the American people, even conservatives. So, when Reddit userFun-Race-2841brought up this90-day tariff pausein ther/Conservativesubreddit, conservatives shared their honest thoughts about the matter. Here’s what they said below.

1.“Clearly, Barron told Trump to pause this shit until the Switch 2 is released.”

2.“The market took its Viagra in response.”

3.“Stock market over the last few days, with all the dips and peaks, looks like a freaking heart monitor. Pretty accurate feeling, all things considered.”

4.“I wonder how many politicians made bank off this today.”

— obalovatyk

5.“China is dumping treasuries, and Trump is putting a pause on everyone but China. I really don’t think Trump will issue a pause on China at any point. I think he is hell-bent on making them bend the knee, and I’m not opposed to it.”

6.“Can’t bully China and the entire world at the same time. Probably a good call. Hopefully, the 50+ countries that reached out will continue negotiations.”

— _ Diggus_Bickus _

7.“Hate him for this, to be honest.”

8.“WTF are we doing, lol.”

— pr931

9.“WTF is the point?! Just stick with the tariffs, for fuck sake! I’m sick of this back and forth. Good deals better come out of it.”

10.“I’m a three-time Trump voter, but not the most politically aware person. Would this not be a very bad thing if China doesn’t fold since the majority of the stuff we buy comes from there?”

11.“The rule with Donald Trump, which the world refuses to accept, is that you take him seriously, but not literally. At this point, it should be clear that he is playing Chess. Not 4D Chess: I’m not worshipping the guy, but he’s not planning on tariffing everyone forever. He is looking to get tariffs down for basically everyone except China. The negotiations are clearly a sign of this. Trump sees China as an existential threat and is trying to pull the Communist Party of China’s fangs, but he wasn’t explicit in this. He just put big tariffs on everyone and is now rewarding all those who come to the table. Never ever listen to the legacy media’s screaming. They are looking to color things as black as possible.”

12.“Thank God. I still don’t know what the short-term game is here because I’m afraid that tanking the economy because you’re hell-bent on taking on everyone in the world just means we lose the mid-term and lose in ‘26. At least this seems like there’s an end goal. We work it out with other countries and fix the original goal of a trade war with China.”

13.“I don’t fully understand the whole tariff process. I do trust that Trump is trying his best to fix the economy, though. He’s at least trying to do something, unlike the previous administration. It’s strange for me to say this because I was as anti-Trump as you can get.”
