" fiscal crisis " does n’t mean we ’re gon na stop buying the essential — or in some cases , the slight luxuries .

Withtalk growingabout a potential recession on the horizon, plenty of people are talking abouthow to preparefor one orhow they saved moneyduring the last recession. Higher prices on imported goods mean that people will probably slow their spending. However…

There are some things we simply can’t live without, even when times get tough. So, I decided to ask members of ourBuzzFeed Communityto tell me what they would not stop buying, even if a recession hit — and their answers were pretty interesting. Here are some of the best:

.“Glasses. Because I like being able to see.”

.“Quality pet products and veterinary care. My pets make me happy, so they deserve the best!”

.“Pet supplies, manicures, and pedicures.”

.“Toiletries. Because no matter how poor I become, hygiene is still number one. hygiene wards off most contagious diseases.”

.“I gave up coffee and all premade food and live in an RV. I am a vegetarian but no longer buy organic. I adopted two senior pets (separately) from the Humane Society…”

.“Quality shampoo and conditioner.”

.“Weed.”

.“Insulin, because I have no choice.”

.“Quality skincare.”

.“Cat food and GOOD cat litter (tight clumping, low dust). I know it’s cliché, but I’ll give up some of my stuff so my precious cats can have a nice life. That said…”

" I in all probability wo n’t give up my hair Cartesian product either . I want long slick tresses , dammit ! "

.“Medications and iced coffees.”

.“Gas…because I have to get around.”

.“In no specific order: butter, quality toilet tissue, the right dog food, Gain laundry products, AC, and fresh meats and vegetables.”

.“Sneakers I couldn’t afford as a child.”

.“The nice toilet paper.”

.“I won’t stop getting my $40 haircut.”

.“Drugs, lol. Gotta keep the party going somehow.”

.“Coffee. Specifically, the jugs of iced coffee from the dairy section of the stores. I can’t drink hot drinks because of stomach issues, but I NEED my coffee, so I’m going to keep buying it, even if it’s more expensive.”

.“Skincare. I’ve worked way too hard (and spent too much money to perfect my skincare regimen) to risk messing up my skin in order to find a cheaper alternative.”

.“My anti-convulsive medication. I have epilepsy, but am very stable on medication. To be able to legally drive regularly, I have to see my neurologist at least twice a year and take medication to avoid any sort of serious medical issues.”

.“Decent shampoo and conditioner…which I’d gladly give up if I had to so my cats could continue to eat high-quality cat food!”

.“Good coffee beans! 🫘 "

.“My Sirius XM Satellite Radio subscription. I love EDM music, especially the Chill channel, and can’t part with my tunes!”

.“My gym membership. It’s one thing that will keep me sane.”

.“Meat. I don’t care how expensive it gets, I need protein.”
