“ If you ’re going to these length to not watch over a picture show then you should n’t be a voting phallus of the Academy . ”

Last week, internet users were outraged after it was revealed that the Academy had only just implemented anobjectively vital rule for Oscars voters.

The official press releasestated, “Academy members must now watch all nominated films in each category to be eligible to vote in the final round for the Oscars.”

Given that the Oscars have been a thing for 90+ years, people were understandably pretty annoyed that this rule has only now been implemented. However, unfortunately, things just got way more disappointing.

This week,Varietypublished an article centered around the “loopholes” some Academy members had already found to avoid watching all of the Oscar-nominated films.

The outlet reported, “Today, some members, particularly in the Executive and Marketing and PR branches, simply press play on the Academy app to satisfy the system’s viewing requirement — then mute the audio or switch tabs. ‘The app only needs to see that you watched it,’ says one voter. ‘It doesn’t know if you’re sitting there.’”

“ Another member allow they hit play before impart the house to go to work , ” the retail store added .

Reacting to this online, tons of fans have questioned why people who aren’t interested in watching all of the Oscar-nominated films are members of the Academy.

“If you’re going to these lengths to not watch a movie then you shouldn’t be a voting member of the academy,” one viral tweetread. “There are more than enough people who would actually take this job seriously. Some might even do it for free. Fire everyone with this mentality,” someone elsewrote.

“ why do you have a career in picture if you do nt care about movies , ” someonesaid , while another personechoed : “ why are you process in this industry then . ”

“ If you ’re this passionate about not watching movies why the nooky are you an Oscar voter ? ” one more userquestioned .

Meanwhile, some people left suggestions on how to overcome these “loopholes.” “They need to treat this like the SATs and make Oscar voters go watch in a monitored auditorium,” someonesaid. “We should make academy members write book reports for movies,” another personwrote.

Personally, I’d absolutely watch those films for free. I’d probably even pay to watch them, TBH. Feel free to share your thoughts down below.
