It is believed the boy had already been dead for several hours before she called 911, and when police arrived, they found him dead on the motel room’s bed among Disneyland souvenirs.

According to theOrange County DA’s office, “On Wednesday, 10 January 2025, the day Ramaraju was scheduled to check out of the motel and return the boy to his father, Ramaraju called 911 at 9:12 a.m. to report that she had killed her 11-year-old son and had taken pills trying to kill herself. Santa Ana police arrived at the motel and arrested Ramaraju on suspicion of murder. A large kitchen knife was found inside the motel room, which had been purchased the day before.”

2.A motorcyclistdiedafter falling into a massive sinkhole that appeared on a street in Seoul on 11 March 2025. The sinkhole, which was approximately 65 feet wide and deep, opened up during rush hour, swallowing the motorcyclist and injuring a woman whose van was passing over the site at the same time. The motorcyclist’s body was found the next morning, still wearing his helmet and motorcycle boots.

3.Speaking of sinkholes, in January this year, ​amassive sinkhole in Yashio, Japan, “swallowed” a truck and its 74-year-old driver. The hole, initially about 33 feet wide and 20 feet deep, was believed to have been caused by a rupture in an underground sewer pipe, leading to the road’s collapse.

During rescue efforts, the sinkhole expanded to 130 feet wide, revealing leaking sewage and gas lines, leading to hundreds of households being evacuated. Sadly, after two weeks, rescuers lost contact with the driver, and he wasnever found.

4.In March, ababysitter in Kansasdiscovered a man hiding under the bed of the child she was caring for. Trying to ease the child’s fears, the babysitter looked under the bed and actually found a man hiding there. During a struggle, the babysitter and one child were knocked over. The man, Martin Villalobos Jr., fled the scene before police arrived.

The following morning, Villalobos was apprehended and charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and violation of a protection from abuse order. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

5.In 2016, a man who had been stalkingMiranda Cosgroveshot at a woman in a car near Cosgrove’s Los Angeles home, mistaking her for the actress. Later that day, the man set himself on fire and fatally shot himself in Cosgrove’s front yard. Cosgrove was not home during either incident but returned to find her property turned into a crime scene.

7.The case of convicted murdererDavid Pearce, who reportedly repeated the chilling phrase, “Dead girls don’t talk,” during the investigation into his crimes. Pearce was convicted of murdering two women in Los Angeles over three years ago. A self-described nightlife promoter, Pearce was accused by prosecutors of supplying drugs that led to the overdoses of Christy Giles and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola in his apartment. It was further alleged that hours after the women lost consciousness, he “disposed” of their bodies outside separate hospitals.

8.A woman’s arm was deemed"medically unnecessary"by a US health insurance company earlier this year. Elisabeth Foley was vacationing with her family along the Florida Panhandle in June 2024 when a shark attacked her. She attempted to swim to shore but was bitten, suffering severe injuries to her lower body. In an effort to protect her children, she punched the shark in the nose, but it grabbed her left hand and pulled her underwater. When she resurfaced, she discovered that her hand had been severed, with exposed bone visible.​ She was assisted ashore by family and bystanders, airlifted to a medical center, and underwent 25 surgeries.

Foley was scheduled to receive a myoelectric prosthetic arm, which responds to electrical impulses from the body, allowing for fine motor functions. However, her insurance company denied coverage for the $73,000 device, deeming it “medically unnecessary.”

9.Rachel Morningstar Hoffman, a 23-year-old Florida State University graduate, wasmurderedon 12 May 2025, during a botched undercover drug operation in Tallahassee. Facing potential prison time for drug charges, Hoffman was recruited by the Tallahassee Police Department as a confidential informant. She was tasked with purchasing large quantities of drugs and a firearm from two convicted felons. Lacking training and experience, Hoffman was sent alone with $13,000 in cash. The operation failed, leading to her abduction and murder. Her body was discovered two days later in Perry, Florida.​

10.In March,Silvanna Moreno, a 9-year-old girl from Vista, California, died just hours after undergoing a dental procedure under general anesthesia. Dr. Ryan Watkins, a licensed dentist trained in anesthesiology, administered the anesthesia and reported no complications during the procedure. Silvanna was discharged in stable condition and remained asleep during the car ride home. She was later found unresponsive in her bed at home, prompting her family to call 911. Despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.​

11.Three American women — Kaoutar Naqqad, Imane Mallah, and Wafae El-Arar — werefound deadin their hotel room at the Royal Kahal Beach Resort in San Pedro, Belize, on 18 March 2025. After some investigation and toxicology reports, it was revealed that their cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning. The women had carboxyhemoglobin levels above 60%, significantly higher than normal levels.

12.A man stabbed a woman out of nowhere in broad daylight in the East Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles and it was all caught on horrifying video.

13.In February 2023, a teenager namedJack Snyderwas fatally shot in Battle Creek, Michigan, after he offered a ride to two other teenagers, Dewond Estes III and Justice Chimner, who he saw were out walking in the cold. The two teens attempted to carjack Snyder, and during the struggle, Chimner shot him twice. Snyder crashed his car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

14.Back in January, a 10-year-old girl,Yaneliz Munguia, was killed by a stray bullet fired into the air during New Year’s Eve celebrations in Miami, Florida. Minutes after midnight, while her family was lighting fireworks outside their apartment, Yanelis collapsed. Her parents discovered a gunshot wound to the back of her head and rushed her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

15.The tragic story ofAzaria Chamberlain, a 9-week-old baby in Australia who died on 4 December 2024, during a family camping trip near Uluru (formerly Ayers Rock). Her parents, Lindy and Michael Chamberlain, reported that a dingo — a wild dog native to Australia — took their daughter from their tent. Initially, an inquest supported their account, but public skepticism led to Lindy’s conviction for murder in 1982, and she served over three years in prison before being released.

However, in 1986, new evidence — a jacket matching Azaria’s clothing found near a dingo lair — led to the overturning of the Chamberlains' convictions. Subsequent inquests, including a2012 ruling, confirmed that a dingo was responsible for Azaria’s death, leading to an official apology and compensation for the family.

The case garnered international attention and has been depicted in various media, including the filmEvil Angels(known asA Cry in the Darkin Australia), where Meryl Streep portrayed Lindy Chamberlain. The phrase “a dingo’s got my baby” became a widely recognized reference to the case.

16.The existence of a"mellified man,“an ancient medicinal practice that involved mummifying a human body with honey. The process involved an elderly person, near death, eating only honey and also bathing in it until they died. Then, their body would be sealed in a coffin full of honey. Supposedly, after 100 years, this “mixture” would be ingested by people to heal broken bones and cure other injuries.

17.In November 2024, a man in Amarillo, Texaskilled his 106-year-old grandmotherby strangling her to death. Cecilia Ferguson, who lived with her grandson, Michael Ferguson, was found dead in her home under suspicious circumstances. Initially, Michael denied involvement. However, after further investigation, he was arrested and charged with injury to the elderly, which was eventually upgraded to murder.

18.In November 2024, a woman,Stephanie Dowells, was killed during a conjugal visit with her husband, David Brinson, at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California. He reportedly strangled her to death and told prison officers that she had passed out during their visit. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, Dowells was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

19.In December 2024, a woman named Debrina Kawam was fatallyset on firewhile sleeping aboard a stationary train on the NYC Subway. The incident happened at the Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue station in Brooklyn. Surveillance footage captured the assailant calmly approaching Kawam, igniting her clothing with a lighter, and watching as the flames quickly engulfed her. Despite immediate efforts by officers to extinguish the fire, Kawam was pronounced dead at the scene due to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.

22.In January, thebodies of two teenage boyswere discovered in the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue Airbus A320 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The aircraft had arrived from JFK airport in New York, following a flight from the Dominican Republic. The teens, identified as Jeik Aniluz Lusi and Elvis Borques Castillo, were pronounced dead at the scene when they were discovered.
