The78th Cannes Film Festivaldawns before us - commencing from 13th May to 24th May! The festival celebrates cinema from across the world and is one of the most significant events in film history.
Renowned actors, directors, and celebrities touch down at Cannes every year to honour films. And we love to see them walk down that red carpet!

However, for the 78th edition of theCannes Film Festival, the event organizers have drawn up new rules:no nudity and voluminous outfits (especially with large trains).
I can pick up Aishwarya Rai Bachchan ’s stylist call already , and so am I.
This conservative change in dress rules was brought into action due to “decency reasons” for nude outfits. For the voluminous outfits, thenew charter stated that"Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted.“This means… we might not get to see these ravishing outfits this year!
This also permits the festival to prohibit entry to anyone that goes against the new rules in the charter.
Like when the cast ofCarol , Cate Blanchettand Rooney Mara , were not allowed entry for the premiere because they were not wearing heels , but flats . This shows that Cannes is stringent with its rules .
While the charter doesn’t define what comes under ‘nudity’ clearly, it lists the outfits that areallowedfor the evening premieres: “a little black dress, a cocktail dress, a dark-coloured pantsuit, a dressy top with black pants; elegant shoes and sandals with or without a heel; a black or navy-blue suit with bow-tie or dark-coloured tie.”
Nude dresses are a trendy mode style , so this rule is quite a slam for fashionistas who were looking frontwards to seeing more glamorous and bold looks on the carpet . These Modern rule of thumb will change how the carpet will look this year !
