" I ended up wait on my old lady friend and her date one night , which would have been unsound enough . But after issue forth back to check on them after their food had been brought out , I discovered that their food and tabular array were cover with ants . "
Dates are hard, and so is witnessing a particularly bad one. Weasked the BuzzFeed Communityfor times they saw a public date go so, so, SO very wrong. As always, they didn’t hold back. So here are 15 of the most “eek!” bad date stories they shared:
.“An extremely beautiful couple sat down at a very popular restaurant chain where I was a waiter at in my teenage years. I was their waiter, and everything seemed to be going smoothly. The man had a Rolex on. I can’t remember the suit’s name, but it was one of the luxury brands. Fast forward to check time, and, yup, you guessed it. His card declined. The woman, I kid you not, called him ‘a fake as* bi***’ and hit him. Then she walked out. The man tried to run out of the restaurant, was tripped by another customer, and knocked out one of his front teeth.”
.“Worked at a fondue restaurant known for being very romantic and had a guy plan an elaborate proposal with us. There were flowers and balloons and expensive champagne and wine, and the evening seemed to be going so well UNTIL…we brought the ring on a plate with ‘Will you marry me?’ written in chocolate. She looked at the plate, her smile went to a frown, and she said ‘No f*****g way’ and left. Oof!!”

.“I was bartending at a dive bar, and a woman came in to meet up with a guy she had recently met for their first date. She got there first, told me all of this, and seemed a little nervous. The guy gets there, and they’re hitting it off while having some drinks. Except he’s drinking light beers, and she’s drinking liquor drinks; she’s drinking faster than he is, but not to the point where I need to cut her off. They close out and leave together. I got off work shortly after that while my coworker stayed to close the bar. I get a call at 2 a.m. when she’s closing the bar, telling me that the couple came back (after evidently going somewhere else for more drinks). Except the girl was much drunker, and the guy seemed annoyed. They sat at the bar, but the guy seemed fed up and wanted to leave.”
.“A man had just ordered a $200 bottle of sake for him and his date. Right as he was about to pour a shot for his date, his wife and teenage daughter stormed in and began cursing him out in front of the entire restaurant. All three women proceeded to take turns slapping him and walked out. He sat there speechless and embarrassed for about 10 seconds and then left himself. The best part was that he left the bottle there untouched, so the staff got to enjoy it!”

.“I feel so bad for this poor girl every time I think about this. I was serving a girl who was waiting for her date to arrive. I mentioned to her how pretty she looked (She was legitimately beautiful), and she said thanks and that she was waiting on a blind date she had been set up on. She said she was super nervous because it was the first date she had been on in a long time. Eventually, an unforgivable amount of time had passed, and her date was still nowhere to be found. I approached her table, asking her if she needed anything. And she said she needed a drink because she had just gotten word from the mutual friend that this POS date of hers got to the restaurant, saw her, and claimed she was ‘too fat’ and turned right around. I get her her drink and go back to the kitchen to gossip about what a jerk this guy was. The entire kitchen thought it would be a good idea to pressure our single and super awkward dishwasher to go join her.”
.“I was a relatively new server on a busy Friday night. The man showed up first to get a table and a drink while he waited for his blind date. He has a drink over 45 minutes and orders an appetizer. The food and his date arrive around the same time, and things start going sideways. The initial greeting was friendly and what you would expect a first date ‘hello’ to be. She excuses herself to the bathroom, and her date’s mood changes dramatically. He tells me she looks nothing like her pictures, and he’s being catfished. She returns from the bathroom, and the date continues. She orders our baked haddock, which comes with an almond rice pilaf and seasoned broccoli. Her date excuses himself to the bathroom, only for her to inform me that he is not the man in the pictures and he is rude. He returns and orders another drink to go with dinner.”
" Their repast get , and she starts create faces . I go over to check in and see how I can aid . She yells at me that her steaming Pisces is cold . I apologize and bring it back to the kitchen and inform my manager . We get her meal fixed , and I bring it back out to her . She trump up a forkful of Sir Tim Rice and cast aside it at me because she can not come up any almonds in the almond rice pilaff . There was no pleasing these two , so my managing director took over the mesa , offered them dessert , and right away took care of the check . It ’s been 15 year , and I remember it like it was yesterday . "

.“I ended up waiting on my old girlfriend and her date one night, which would have been bad enough. But after coming back to check on them after their food had been brought out, I discovered that their food and table were covered with ants. As far as I knew, we had never had ants before, but they were covered in ants. Forty-five years later, I am still sure they thought I did something to cause the ants to magically appear.”
.“We had a guy come in first, waiting for his date. He proceeded to drink a lot before she arrived and was just generally acting loud and weird. His date showed up, and they looked to be ok. But he kept pressuring her to drink more and was being borderline aggressive in the conversation. She seemed to be getting uncomfortable. So when we had a chance, we got her alone and asked if she was ok. She told us she was really uneasy because he was trying to get her to leave with him. We had a server take her out the back and drive her home without telling him. He eventually left!”

.“Two women walk in. They start chatting. Order some wine and water. Don’t drink it. Order some appetizers. Don’t eat them. They conversed after ordering their food and lots of laughing. When I get back with hot plates of food, Woman 1 says, ‘That’s Woman 2’s order.’ I switch plates. Waiting another table, one of my waiter buddies talks about the women who keep switching plates. Sure enough, it’s them. At exactly 7:30 p.m., a man in a very expensive-looking tux walks in. He looks to the table with the two women, and his face pales. He runs out as the women laugh. Turns out Woman 1 was his wife, and Woman 2 was the man’s side chick. Woman 1 was cheating on her husband with Woman 2, also. Very complicated. Apparently, the secret had gotten out, and the entire expensive dinner was put on the man’s card. Last I heard, Woman 1 and Woman 2 were married with two kids and a golden doodle. Nice people.”
.“I used to work at this really popular pizza chain that is based out of Chicago, and this guy and girl came in and were told the wait time was, like, 30 minutes. The guy asked the girl if she wanted to wait or go somewhere else, and she straight up just said she wanted to leave altogether. He asked her if they could get together again soon, and she said, ‘No.’ She wasn’t interested. He accepted it pretty good, and I felt bad for him, especially because he was standing in the restaurant trying to figure out what to do now. I still get second-hand embarrassment from that, but I hope he found someone else!”

.“I was closing late one night. A couple came in, and everything seemed pretty normal. I bring their food out quickly, as there weren’t many tables that late. The woman tells me she’s on a first date. He went to the bathroom, but she’s having a really great time. We wait…and wait…and wait. After about half an hour, she realizes he’s not coming back. She’s sobbing and stuck with the bill. So many years later, I still can’t understand why he ordered an entire meal when he had no intention of staying.”
.“This guy did not let his date speak for the entire two-hour dinner. He wasn’t even saying anything interesting! He was outlining the entire plot of every boring TV show he watched. He started withPsychand told her every plot line of every season before moving on toScrubs. He did the same thing, including mentioning the season without J.D. (Zach Braff). And this was recently, so these weren’t even new shows! His date just sat there wide-eyed, clearly wishing she could just melt into the floor to escape him. He tried to hold her hand when they walked out, but she dodged him and walked as fast as she possibly could.”

.“On Valentine’s Day, a guy brought balloons and lots of flowers for his date. He pre-purchased champagne so it was ready when they sat down. His date seemed uncomfortable and embarrassed. Right after they ordered appetizers, he got everyone who was around him to pay attention as he got down on one knee. He proposed loudly. She ducked her head and shook it ‘no.’ She grabbed her coat and walked out, super shy and nervous. Everyone in the restaurant saw the whole thing. The server quietly dropped the check. He paid, finished his glass of champagne, and left. No one in the restaurant spoke until he was out the door.”
.“I work at a slightly upscale spot and saw this guy come in and be seated at a table for two. His date arrived…with both parents in tow, looking like there was nothing wrong with this. Had to reseat the four of them. They asked to split the check three ways: Dad, Mom, and the VERY uncomfortable guy who probably had no idea this would happen. I never saw the couple (or the parents for that matter) ever again. Safe to say it didn’t work out.”
