" Some of you need to grow up . No country is arrant , and America is far from it . "

As an American, I’ll be the first to admit that we can be a bit weird. While all countries have habits and behaviors that make them unique, the US takes that to a bit of an extreme, much to the bafflement of others..

1.“Picture it: You’re at a kids' sporting event. There’s band music playing, the smell of hot dogs in the air, parents are cheering on teams, and it’s great. Then, half time rolls around, and barely clothed young girls run out to perform a ‘cheer’ routine. There’s music with inappropriate lyrics, booty shaking, twerking, and always a hyper competitive cheer mom yelling, ‘Make it sexy! Get it, Mackenzie!’ Then the show ends with poses only appropriate for centerfold models.”

2.“Second and third generation Americans who proudly state they have Irish, German, etc. roots. No, you’re an American. Unless you visit often or grew up there, you have nothing in common with those countries.”

— u / pandaturtle27

" It ’s ironical because people who say that have typically never inspect those res publica . I ’m a first - generation American ( my parents immigrated from the USSR in 1979 ) , and I never say I ’m Russian American .

I just say I ’m American and keep it move . "

3.“Making an adult child pay rent in their parents' home. They’re not contributing to the total rent of a rented house or towards bills, which would be reasonable if they have a job, etc., but are paying rent on an owned property. I’ll never understand that.”

" When I survive at home as an grownup and had a job , my mamma charged me $ 200 / calendar month , which probably only covered the solid food I ate . I give her more money monthly since I ’ve moved , so she wo n’t have to work a 2d job .

I thought that was what mass were talking about when they said they were pay rip to their parents ; I was shock when I find out parents excite their children market rent . "

4.“I recently returned from a trip to Europe, and traveling there always reminds me how weird we are in the US when it comes to religion. I was in Spain and Portugal during Easter (and the death of the Pope). There’s a lot of cultural Catholicism with the processionals, but our tour guides and some of the locals said the majority of people don’t practice. It’s just tradition.”

5.“Letting your waiter take your credit card and walk into a different room, completely out of sight. It’s wild that we don’t have more credit card fraud than we already do.”

" The first fourth dimension I eat at an American eating place with my American friends , they had to reassure me that it was normal when the waiter walked off with my card . "

" Between work , hit the books , and schooling , how do they have time to hang up out with friends , go to parties , and enjoy their youthfulness ? "

7.“The incongruity between blind flag-worship and constantly desecrating the flag by putting it on everything. If you like the flag so much, don’t turn it into a f*cking swimsuit.”

8.“I know it’s only a certain demographic, but the whole ‘America is the best country to ever exist’ shtick reminds me of children arguing over whose dad is the strongest or whose bike is the fastest. Some of you need to grow up. No country is perfect, and America is far from it.”

9.“Tipping! Why is it ok to underpay certain jobs in hopes that the consumers will pay extra to provide a living for employees?”

" Employers should pay employees , period . "

12.“Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance every day in school as a kid.”

— atomic number 92 / siestarrific

" I agree that the reciting of the Pledge in school seems very autocratic and indoctrinating , which is ironic because it ’s supposed to be representative of pronouncing pride and loyalty to a commonwealth that loves shore leave , although the nation seems to be losing its love of liberty in late years . "

13.“Privatized healthcare: We go into debt for a few doctor visits per year. We pay for the ‘privilege’ of only paying half or a quarter of the visit/procedure costs. This is why I had to stop getting check-ups. Somehow, I always required more testing or treatment, and then I would be stuck paying thousands of dollars every six months to a year.”

14.“As an American, when anyone cheers ‘USA! USA!’ to deter someone who confronts our government officials in the crowd.”

" And no , it ’s not just the MAGA mass who do that . "

— u / efficacious - Phase-5012

15.“Honestly? Electing abankruptreality TV host as President and then doubling down eight years later, like it was a subscription you forgot to cancel. That’s not politics — that’s a national cry for help.”
