“ We ’re trying to obtain something to fight about ! ”
We all have that one couple in our lives who never seem to argue, no matter how stressful times get. And it sounds like George andAmal Clooneymight just be that couple.
George and Amal tied the knot in September 2014 and three years later became parents to twins,Ella and Alexander. Despite being so famous, we don’t always see or hear much about the Clooneys, and last year, George said that his and Amal’sstrict approach to privacywas for the safety of their children.
And so, while we may not see them out and about that often, it sounds like the Clooney family is doing better than ever. Appearing onCBS Morningsto discuss his Broadway debut inGood Night, and Good Luck— which, yes, is why he currently has dyed hair — George told hostGayle Kingthat he and Amal are “having a really great time in life.”
“Our kids are 7, about to be 8, which is a pretty great age. They’re really curious and funny. Every parent thinks their kids are great — our kids are funny and make us laugh,” he said, giving some insight into thetwins’ personalities.
George recalled a previous appearance onCBS Morningsin 2022 when he and Amal told a disbelieving Gayle that they’d never had an argument in their eight years of marriage. Now, 10 years after they tied the knot, he gave an update on that claim.
“We were here with you once before, and I remember we said we’d never had an argument. We still haven’t,” he said. “We’re trying to find something to fight about!”
Attempting to explain their harmonious bond, George suggested it helps that he didn’t meet Amaluntil he was in his 50s. “I started so late with Amal,” he said. “I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met this incredible woman. I feel as if I hit the jackpot. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think I’m the luckiest man in the world. So it’s great.”
“I had this conversation with Amal when I turned 60,” he told theNew York Timesin February. “I said, ‘Look, I can still play full-court basketball. I can still run around. I can still do pretty much everything I did when I was 30. But in 30 years, I’m 90.’ That’s a real number. My dad just hit that. And there are some things you’re not doing, no matter how many granola bars you eat.”
Talking about making the most of his family life, he continued: “I told Amal, ‘We have to focus on the next 20, 25 years of making sure that we’re jamming in everything we can’… There’s a thing about finding the person that you needed to find, particularly at a certain age, and everything from then on is easy.”
