Politicians are reacting after former president Joe Biden revealed that he wasdiagnosedwith an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer.

Yesterday, his personal office released a statement which read, “Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management," the statement continued, noting that the 82-year-old and his family are currently “reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”

Biden subsequently shared a selfie with his wife, Jill, and cat, Willow, adding, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”

Over on the Democrat side, Biden’s former vice president Kamala Harris, shared a picture of the two,writing, “Doug and I are saddened to learn of President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. We are keeping him, Dr. Biden, and their entire family in our hearts and prayers during this time. Joe is a fighter — and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership. We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery.”

And Barack Obama, the president to Biden’s VP,wrote, “Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family. Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace. We pray for a fast and full recovery.”

Gov. Tim Walzsaid, “Gwen and I are praying for President Biden and his family. A truly decent man and a friend. We’re wishing him all the best.”

Lawmaker Jasmine Crockettsaidthat she is “praying for@JoeBiden& the entire Biden family.” Senator Chuck Schumerwrotethe same thing.

Representative Nancy Pelosisaid, “President Joe Biden is a great American patriot. Paul and I join the millions across the country and around the world praying for him to have strength and a swift recovery in the battle against cancer. Sending love to him and his family.”

Independent senator and former Democratic presidential nominee Bernie Sanders reacted bystating, “Jane and I wish President Biden a full and speedy recovery as he receives treatment for prostate cancer.”

Meanwhile, on the Republican side, President Donald Trump wrote onTruth Social, “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene said onX, “I’m sorry to see this news. Cancer is truly awful. My Dad passed away in 2021 with cancer. Prays for Joe Biden and his family.”

Finally, Donald Trump Jr. initiallyshareda post wishing a “speedy recovery” to Biden, before sharing a number ofconspiracy theoriessuggesting there had been a “cover-up.” He furtherpinneda post where he wrote, “What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage five metastatic cancer or is this yet another coverup???” — despite Biden havingstage fourcancer and Jill not being a medical doctor.
