" Bras are far more expensive than I realise . "

It’s no secret that straight men lead completely different lives than women. For many of them, things like makeup, menstrual products, and bras are foreign concepts.

Of course, this all changes when they get girlfriends. Once straight men enter relationships, they learn so many things about women — things that might seem completely obvious to the rest of us.

Inone Reddit thread, men are sharing the things they learned after getting a girlfriend, and I’m both surprised and heart-warmed. Some of their discoveries are actually really wholesome.

Here are 23 of the best insights:

1.“If she asks if you wantice cream, she wants ice cream and wants you to say yes so that she can get ice cream.”

– Cranius_Maximus

2.“Most women need iron.”

– WillSmiff

3.“That they naturally smell really good without having to spray anything. IDK what it is, but I can get high off my gf’s smell.”

– telemaklee

4.“That women can really multitask. So much better than men. When I cook, the phone is off, the door is shut, and I can’t talk to anyone. Not my girl. She can solve complex tax problems while reducing chicken broth.”

– puppymaster123

5.“That women are all apparently immune to high temperatures. First time I ran a bath for my first girlfriend, trying to be all romantic, she hit me with, ‘it’s a bit cold’ as I’m looking at the steam coming off the water…”

– letsalldropvitamins

6.“Doing your own makeup is art. It’s hard. Sometimes, I just sit there watching her do it.”

7.“Bras are far more expensive than I realized.”

– Ok_Emu4157

8.“Their shirts button on the other side. This blew my mind.”

– BubbhaJebus

9.“How much they online window shop. Never could have imagined the hours they spend on clothing websites.”

– ItzLuzzyBaby

10.“Often women just need to talk about their issues. Not looking for a solution.”

– Weary - Caramel-479

11.“A lot of dads are really mean to their daughters.”

– canerican

12.“The cycle impacts their mood, a lot.”

– theholytoxictoast

13.“No matter how much of a macho man you are, you need to do some girly shit with your woman. It’s not because she wants to emasculate you or bend your will or she expects you to enjoy it even, it’s because she wants to share some of her daily life with you. On the other hand, women don’t mind doing some manly shit with you, because, guess what, they are willing to share some of your daily life with you.”

– grumpy_enraged_bear

14.“Every one of my long-term girlfriends suffered from sexual violence in some way, most when underage. I thought the first couple were flukes, but every time I eventually get to the point of the relationship where things like that are shared, the trauma begins to flow out. Had no idea how prevalent it is. Seven in a row at this point.”

– sixpointfivehd

15.“Before you live with your girl, you may not realize that — like cats — they get the zoomies sometimes. How many of you have been lying down to sleep, and your partner gets all wiggly and silly?”

– ByrnStuff

16.“If they’re upset, there is a 50/50 chance they’re just hungry. Sometimes I’d just say ‘Man, I could really go for some Taco Bell’ and then her eyes would light up.”

– Diablo258

17.“They are messy in the bathroom and go through toilet paper at a rate of one forest per week. I was not prepared for the TP expense when my first gf moved in with me. And each gf after only compounded the TP situation. By the time I met and married my wife, I was a Costco member solely so I could supply her with toilet paper in BULK.”

– Dubious_Titan

18.“They talk to their close friends about everything. EVERYTHING.”

– Rubbish0419

19.“I have an easier life. Periods are shit, the way guys hit on them aggressively is shit, the way they can’t go to the places I would and feel safe is shit, the way society treats them if they like having sex is shit, being pregnant is shit, giving birth or having an abortion is beyond shit. Had no idea these things were as bad as they actually are until actually witnessing them.”

– flabbybumhole

20.“They don’t stick those pads to themselves. It sticks to their underpants. Mind blown. 🤯”

– TokiStark

21.“They don’t wash their hair every time they shower.”

– Riustuue

22.“That being a woman is way more expensive than being a man.”

– coorslight15

23.“I wouldn’t say all women, but my girl needs quite a bit of reassurance. She has abandonment issues, so when she’s sad, I have to remind her I am not going anywhere. I don’t mind it because she truly is a wonderful and caring woman. We’re a team.”
