As any person who menstruates will tell you, periods are no joke. And no matter what your day-to-day might look like, it’s not uncommon to struggle to get things done when you’re on your period, particularly if you’re someone who suffers from a reproductive disorder. With that in mind, if I were in the midst of a period, I’m not sure I could think of anything much worse than having to stand in front of a camera and try to look beautiful for a room of strangers. But forBella Hadid, that happens to be a regular occurrence.
Speaking toBritish Voguefor a brand new cover interview, the supermodel got real about how her period can impact her work life — something which, despite it being 2025, we surprisingly don’t hear all that many famous women talk about.
Bella, now 28, has been in the public eye since she was a teen, and in that time, she’s spoken incredibly candidly about her struggles withchronic illness. Now, speaking to Vogue, she seemingly confirmed she suffers fromendometriosis, which is a long-term condition that can cause especially painful periods.
Discussing how her self-confidence has evolved in her modeling career, Bella said: “I was like 17, 18 years old, not knowing or loving myself a hundred per cent yet. I had just moved out of my parents’ house and gone straight into a world where you have to stare in the mirror every single day. And we get our periods. You’re shooting Victoria’s Secret on your period, with endo.”
“That should be illegal,” she continued. “I’m going to talk to the White House about it, because we should literally ban women working on the week of their period. And the week before, to be honest.”
Bella, you have my full support — the struggle is real. I always appreciate hearing famous women talk candidly about their periods, PMS, and all that good stuff to remind me that we’re all in this together.
