Barry revealed he also recently correct to play the drums in front of Ringo , which is apprehensible .

Movie-making is a serious business — just askBarry Keoghanabout his hands.

In the unlikely event that you missed it, Barry was among the quartet of young actors recently cast in the upcoming movies aboutthe Beatles, which are set to hit theaters in 2028. Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn will play George Harrison, leaving Barry as Ringo Starr.

If you know much about the Beatles, you’ll know that Ringo was the band’s drummer. And now, appearing onJimmy Kimmel Live, Barry gave an exciting update on his preparation for the role, revealing that he and Ringo recently hung out.

“I met him at his house, and he played the drums for me. He asked me to play, but I wasn’t playing the drums for Ringo,” he joked, recalling that he was “in awe” of the legendary musician. “When I was talking to him, I couldn’t look at him. I was nervous, like right now. But he’s like, ‘You can look at me’… My job is to observe and kinda take in mannerisms and study him. I want to humanize him and bring feelings to it and not just sort of imitate.”

As it stands, we don’t know a huge amount about the Beatles movies, other than they’ll come in the form of four biopics, released at similar times, each one following an interconnected narrative from a different bandmate’s perspective. Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman described themovies as“the first binge-able theatrical experience” — so, make of that what you will.

“They’re insured now,” Barry said, raising his hands. “I don’t box anymore, because [of] drumming,” he added, revealing that he’s had to put a pause on his other passions so as not to risk injuring himself.

In disbelief, Jimmy asked, “They actually made you get your hands insured?!” Prompting Barry to clarify that they’ve been insured for all the drumming, saying: “I’m insured, yeah, I can’t do owt with my hands.”

Barry didn’t get into details or, most importantly, disclose how much his hands are insured for. But, with a lottttt riding on these Beatles movies, I’d have to imagine it’s a large sum. Suffice to say, if you meet Barry on the street anytime soon, strictly no high fives.
