Last year,Nick Jonasmemorably described the annual Disney Channel Games — which saw all our favorite child stars competing in sports-based events — as“Love Islandon crack.”
The actors were split into four teams amid the games, and Nick competed for the red team along with stars like Brenda Song, Adrienne Bailon, Mitchel Musso, and Jason Earles. Most of the contestants were teenagers; Nick was about 14. Jason was notably much older than his peers at Disney, having been cast inHannah Montanawhen he was 29.
“For those that don’t know, the Disney Channel Games were basically the Olympics, but where they would bring in a hundred-ish Disney Channel stars from all over the world and make us compete in silly games,” Nick said onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “But what it really was, was likeLove Islandon crack.”
“ They would put a crowd of teenagers in the Disney car park after hour and just say , ‘ Let ’s see what happens ! ’ ” he added .
Of course, Nick comparing the DC Games to the reality dating showLove Island— which features a bunch of young adults moving into a villa and exploring romantic and sexual connections — quickly got people talking online, especially given his own dating history throughout his time on Disney.

Well, since Nick’s recollection of the DC Games was made public, several fellow ex-Disney stars have shared their thoughts. Last year,The Suite Life Of Zack and Codystar Dylan Sprouse — who is the same age as Nick — said during apodcast appearance, “That’s a really weird take, honestly. The DC Games were nothing like that…You can’t compare any situation where it’s like 90 percent 14 year olds to a show likeLove Island!”
Meanwhile,High School MusicalstarsCorbin Bleu and Lucas Grabeelalso admitted that they recalled the games very differently than Nick. “I remember the Disney Channel games as just being hot and sweaty and muggy,” Lucas said, while Corbin laughed, “I feel like Nick’s experience probably was completely different. My entire family went. So, I don’t think the Love Island experience with my family would necessarily be the right metaphor.”
Somehow, the conversation is still unfolding online months later, withHannah Montanastar Emily Osmentweighing in just last week. After she was asked about Nick’s remarks on a red carpet, Emily — like Dylan, Corbin, and Lucas — had a very different recollection of the games, which she summarized as “embarrassment and tiny green shorts.”
And now, Alyson Stoner — who starred inSuite LifeandCamp Rock— has entered the conversation, too.
“I also remember maybe playing volleyball with Demi? It was pretty wholesome. So… Nick? What were you doing at the Disney Channel Games?” Alyson laughed, before adding: “I’m just kidding. I did not go to any of the parties. I don’t think I was invited to any of the parties.”
