While Halle Berry sacrificed weary her planned dress to avoid violating the Modern rules — which ban defenseless dresses , voluminous getup , and long wagon train to uphold “ decency ” — other celebs did n’t seem too fussed .
The2025 Cannes Film Festivalkicked off on Tuesday, and so many celebrities are in attendance.#
As you might’ve heard, Cannes notably announced a pretty huge change to its dress code just a day before the festival began. “For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival. Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted,” reads the event’sofficial charter. “The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.”#
The sudden change in dress code sparked a lot of buzz ahead of the event, especially whenHalle Berryrevealed that the attendees had hardly been given any notice about the new rules.#
Explaining that she had to make alast-minute changeto her outfit after learning that it violated the new rules, Halle said during the Cannes jury press conference, perVariety, “I had an amazing dress by Gupta that I cannot wear tonight because it’s too big of a train.”#
But while Halle sacrificed her original dress to follow the dress code, it looks like several other celebrities weren’t quite as fussed. Take a look at some of the other looks for yourself:#
