As you may have gathered, one of the downsides to being cast onThe White Lotusis having to keep secrets about the plot from your friends and family — and forPatrick Schwarzenegger, this caused some tension in his relationship.
Patrick — who played Saxon Ratliff on the show — has been with his fiancé,Abby Champion, since 2015. In fact, the couple actually got engaged right before Patrick was cast onThe White Lotus, meaning they had to push back their wedding plans so he could go to Thailand and film for seven months.
Appearing onThe Tonight Showon Thursday, Patrick was asked byJimmy Fallonabout the struggle of keeping secrets from his loved ones, to which he revealed that Abby was keen to know one important plot detail.
“My fiancée was nagging me nonstop,” he said. “When I booked the role, she was like, ‘You’ve gotta tell me who dies,’ and I’m like, ‘I’m not telling you who dies. I signed my life away! Mike [White, the show’s writer, director, and creator] will fire me!’ And she was like, ‘OK, fine. Just tell me, do you hook up with people? … Do you get with people?’”
Patrick reluctantly confirmed that he had a hookup scene in the series, which only left Abby with more questions about his onscreen love interest. “Who? Which girls do you get with?” Patrick recalled her asking.
Sex is often a significant component inThe White Lotusstorylines, and Season 3 was no different. However, this season’s sexual plot points were undoubtedly much more…unconventional, let’s say. Not only did Patrick’s onscreen hookup involve a threesome, but it also involved his brother.
So, when theincest episodesrolled around, Abby was left shocked and disgusted — as I think we all were.
“Episode 5comes out, and 6, and she was like, ‘You got with your brother?!?!’” he recalled before giving some funny insight into their dynamic. “She was like, ‘You should’ve told me that way earlier, we would’ve had no fights!’”
