" This is a slap in the face for the real refugees who have been await in line for year . "

You’ve probably heard by now thatDonald Trumpiswelcoming white South Africansinto the US and offering them fast-tracked citizenship.

On Monday, the president said, “It’s a genocide that’s taking place… Farmers are being killed. They happen to be white. But whether they are white or Black makes no difference to me. But white farmers are being brutally killed, and their land is being confiscated in South Africa.”

newsperson : Why are you make an expedited route into the rural area for Afrikaners but not others?TRUMP : Because they ’re being kill . And we do n’t want to see people be killed … it ’s a genocide that ’s postulate place . Farmers are being killed . They happen to be white.pic.twitter.com/8LV3VmZ296

Obviously, this move is completely at odds with Trump’s usual immigration stance. His administration hasrejectedrefugees from a number of countries, including Haiti and Afghanistan, whileincreasing deportation effortsand sendingpeople to a prison in El Salvador.

And in case you were curious, the South African government hasdeniedall of Trump’s accusations. Additionally, CNN’s Anderson Cooperreportedthat Black South Africans make up 80% of the population but only own about 4% of private land. The South African government confirmedno land has been seizedfrom white South Africans — despite frustrations over land ownership since apartheid ended in 1994.
