A couple off for the ages .
We’re back with another batch of food to taste. Today’s menu?? Jollof Rice.
Many African countries have their own Jollof recipes and are very proud of them, which makes it a perfect dish to put to the test.
Here are the rules: Gift, Michael, and Lola will try each other’s jollof rice.
Then, they’ll rate each plate from 1-10. Whoever has the highest combined score wins!
First up is Lola. She learned how to make jollof from YouTube (and her mom). In that order. She’s blended the tomato, onion and pepper in a pot, put it to boil, then added the infamous rice.
Lola has also added chicken and plantain to her meal! Time to put it to the test.
Gift and Michael took the plunge and well, they have opinions.
Baby, Lola’s rice was dry. Gift decided she was the only thing giving today…
Her plantains and chicken were pretty okay, so Michael gave Lola her props.
Lola walks away with a combined score of 11.5.
Next up is Gift who wasn’t taught how to make jollof, she mostly learned by observing and adding her own twist to this classic dish.
She’s called herself a great cook, but let’s put her dish to the test!
Michael and Lola were initially confused about what kind of rice they were tasting.
But especially Lola, who boldly declared that what dish Gift served wasn’t actually jollof…damn.
Michael also decided Gift didn’t make jollof rice. Guess Gift’s dish didn’t give anything after all.
Gift walks away with a low score of 6. Them’s the breaks, babe.
Last but not least, we have Michael. He’s paired his jollof with goat and made plantain on the side.
Michael flavored his rice with pepper, garlic, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. That should definitely give his dish an aromatic smell.
No turning back now!
Lola automatically approves. She said it’s definitely “Yoruba jollof.” Honestly, that’s the only compliment Micheal needs.
Gift was digging the spice. Michael’s dish is looking pretty good.
All in all, Michael won with a total score of 16.3!!!
