" Just to let you know a footling bit of what we ’re going through out here on our farm and what farmers in general are going through . "
“Alright, guys, I didn’t really wanna have to get on here and do this, but I had to,” the farmer says at the beginning of the video. He recalls calling about the price of fiberglass stakes two weeks previously and receiving the quote of $0.83 per stake. “I called the man this morning and said, ‘Hey, I know these tariffs are crazy, everything going on, but what can you do me on those fiberglass stakes now if we needed a load? The three-month ETA from the time you place the order.'”#
The supplier apparently responded, “You don’t want to hear this price that I’m about to give you.”#
@ncfamilyfarm told him to give it to him anyway. “He said each of those stakes now is gon’ be $1.74 apiece. I said, ‘Well, you know and I know both that we can’t do that and that’s gon’ be impossible.'”#
“That’s just to let you know a little bit of what we’re going through out here on our farm and what farmers in general are going through. These tariffs? Not the best things for our country. I voted for Trump,” he concludes.#
@ncfamilyfarm is one of many farmers feeling the pressure of increased prices right now. According to theGuardian, farmers across the country say they’re looking at “financial ruin” unless there’s a bailout on the horizon. Trump’s back-and-forth on tariffs followsdevastating weatheracross numerous states that resulted in the loss of millions of dollars of crops, all while the future of global trade remains uncertain. Additionally, the Trump administration hasall but gutted USAID, which previously bought $2 billion of food aid from American farmers every year.#
